The 2016 NORRA Mexican 1000 For Motos
LOWER ENTRY FEE ~
With that heritage in mind, NORRA is proud to announce its recommitment to the two wheeled competitor and has dropped the moto entry fee a thousand dollars from last year’s price to $1967. There will also be a “Pro Moto” option that costs $2967 which will include a “race for cash” payback. Also available at the 2016 NORRA Mexican 1000 are new pitting options to better address the needs of our adventurous moto competitors.
MAG 7 RIDES AGAIN ~
As before, in conjunction with the MAG 7 pitting organization, NORRA will offer free pit support for all motorcycles and ATV competitors when signing up for the 2016 NORRA Mexican 1000. Registered competitors will receive a complimentary entry into MAG 7's “bike” level of pit support (a $600 value) which includes fuel at all pitting locations strategically placed over this year’s five-day, 1,300-mile trans-Baja Mexican 1000 rally.
Additionally, for the more hardcore adventure riders who wish to cut down the cost of their own chase support but also raise the stakes; NORRA will provide complimentary bike supply tote transport from Ensenada to San Jose del Cabo.
Mag-7 will have a dedicated team and support vehicle that will carry your bike tote. The bike totes or box (1 per team) are to be filled with the rider’s supplies. If he/she chooses to accept the challenge, this will allow the hardcore adventure rider a true test at the rally having only him/her self and basic pit support to rely on. The totes can hold various items such as: parts, tools, a tent, a sleeping bag and will be waiting for the rider each evening.
REINFORCED SAFETY ~
To increase safety and maximize competitor enjoyment, once again NORRA is instituting a highly unique "split course" format that will separate the motorcycles and ATVs from the four-wheel classes. This concept, along with the additional support of the NORRA MAG 7 pit support program, will help solidify a better experience for this special group of hearty NORRA competitors. Continuing our safety plan already in place, NORRA has: Live tracking, a medical helicopter, airborne radio relay, sweep trucks and the Mexican Red Cross combined with a vetted staff ready for anything that may arise.
NORRA looks forward to seeing our moto riders back at the 2016 Mexican 1000. Registration is now open and payments are welcome. Please see details below-

2016 UPDATED ERAS AND RULES!
With the Eras firmly in place, NORRA has further clarified its rules for each of its respective classes. The rulebook is posted online at http://norra.com/rules_current.php. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, rally cars, a limited group of modern desert racecars and classes for prerunner trucks and buggies.
Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970s.
The General Tire NORRA Mexican 1000 is supported by General Tire, American Racing Wheel, South Point Hotel Casino, Walker Evans Racing, Azunia Tequila, KC HiLites, Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Mastercraft/Impact Safety.
