URGENT! A NORRA MEXICAN 1000 RALLY ALERT!
March 29, 2017. (Agua Dulce, Calif.): Event organizers for the 8th Annual NORRA Mexican 1000 will be the first to tell you – putting together the logistics for a five day motorcycle, four day car, truck and buggy, 1,000-plus mile romp through Mexico’s Baja peninsula is never easy. There are myriad of details to confirm, crews to assemble and a sombrero full of details to finalize.
As teams, racers and adventure seekers look forward to the final weeks of preparation before arriving in Ensenada, Baja, Mexico for the start of another chapter in “The Happiest Race on Earth!”, today the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) releases its official mileage and pit maps for the 2017 rally that will eventually find competitors enjoying the world-class beaches and sunshine of San Jose del Cabo at land’s end.
The coveted Mexican 1000 mileage and pits maps are available for NORRA's family of racers to use in refining their support strategies. Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.
Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.
The 2016 NORRA Mexican 1000 was supported by Multi-Tool USA, Method Race Wheels, Azunia Tequila, Walker Evans Racing, South Point Hotel Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Mastercraft/Impact Safety.
