NORRA Doesn’t Hand Out Trophies, They Award Works Of Art!

AGUA DULCE, CALIF. – – Competing in either of NORRA’s events, the NORRA 1000, and the new NORRA 500, will create memories for you that will last a lifetime. So many sights and experiences will be had as you participate in such a unique adventure on the Baja Mexico Peninsula. We all have those special moments that bring a smile to our faces long after they originally took place. When you’re looking back, how much more special is it to have a work of art as a trophy instead of a piece of plastic?

NORRA trophies are handmade works of art. They are a bronze sculpture attached to a unique wooden base. The bases for the NORRA 500 will have a special NORRA challenge coin inlaid into the wood and a laser etched logo. The trophy process begins with a handmade form in the shape of the Baja sculpted from clay. From the sculpture, a rubber mold is made. A hard plastic “buck” is cast in the rubber mold. Finally, the hard plastic buck is used to make an impression in casting sand that forms before the molten bronze is cast for the finished trophy. Who is the artist making the trophies you may ask? It’s none other than NORRA President Mike Pearlman. He is an ornamental iron artist when he isn’t participating in the "Happiest Races On Earth!". The NORRA 500 will be the adventure of a lifetime, and the trophy you will receive will be fitting for the memories you will create.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, RIGID, Multitool USA, Timberline, Schampa, Satellite Phone Store.com, PCI Race Radios, Warn, Biltwell, USActionTrax, Joe Hauler, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
