YOKOHAMA Expands Their Sponsorship at 2021 NORRA 500!

Agua Dulce, CALIF. – Yokohama is now the title sponsor at the Yokohama NORRA 500 Presented By Method Race Wheels, and have contributed to the Cartera Grande purse for the UTV’s. Yokohama has been a fixture of off road racing since the mid 1980’s when their Super Digger III tire was launched, but the company’s history goes back even farther. Yokohama was founded way back in 1917, and came to America in 1969. From the very beginning, Yokohama was dedicated to quality, and performance; a goal that is shared by their 2100 employees who work right here in the United States. Yokohama has a research and development center in Cornelius, North Carolina, and manufacturing plants in West Point, Mississippi, and Salem, Virginia.

Yokohama launched the Geolandar series of truck tires in 2018, and in 2020 announced increased participation in desert off road, and rock racing competition with their new 39 inch tall competition tire. Yokohama has sponsored the winningest team of the last 10 years at NORRA; the 1968 Ford Bronco named Caballo Del Diablo driven by owner Boyd Jaynes and Brian Godfrey. Yokohama also sponsors NORRA racers Justin Lofton, Wayne and Kristen Matlock, Jim and Lisa Greenway, Bob Lawrence and many others. Now they are expanding their sponsorship beyond the Mexican 1000 to also include the NORRA 500. As NORRA builds their series to include the 500, Yokohama has become one of the architects who are making it all possible.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, RIGID, Multitool USA, Satellite Phone Store.com, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, The Fab School, Schampa, K&N, Baja Bush Pilots, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
