The 2022 NORRA Stroppe Classic Car Round-Up
An Extraordinary Gathering Of Stroppe Built And Vintage Era Off Road Race Vehicles!

AGUA DULCE, CALIF. The 2022 Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 presented by Method Race Wheels will be the most significant gathering of Bill Stroppe built race vehicles in decades. The most famous of the cars, the “Big Oly” Bronco driven to victory at the Mexican 1000 in 1971 by Parnelli Jones, will be joined by the Stroppe vehicles of Andrew Norton, John Townsend, Susan Kaysinger, Sol Saltzman, and Wayne Schmeeckle. Wayne Schmeeckle will be racing his Jeep, and bringing his Ford Bronco display vehicle, and his restored Bill Stroppe semi-trailer and tractor. The Stroppe Classic Car Round-up will be an incredible photo op for any Stroppe fan, and an opportunity for everyone in attendance to be a part of off road racing history.

The Stroppe Classic Car Round-Up isn’t limited to Stroppe only vehicles - Pioneer, Legends, Challenger and Vintage Eras are all invited to participate.

This is going to be one of the most significant gatherings of off-road race vehicles in history!

What makes this gathering so unique is that many of the vehicles will not merely be on display, but will be participating in the rally which travels all the way down the Baja Peninsula. These historical Stroppe built vehicles will join the countless other restored, vintage vehicles competing in the Mexican 1000, and the many iconic drivers as well. NORRA Honors the Past While Forging the Future. To further pay tribute to the Stroppe legacy, Willie Stroppe, and PJ Jones will be representing their famous Fathers as Co-Grand Marshals. The Stroppe Classic Car Round-up will take place on Saturday, April 30th on contingency row which is located on Club Rotario Drive adjacent to the Riviera Convention Center in Ensenada, Baja Mexico. It will take place from 10am to 1pm and be followed immediately by the Bilstein Classic Car Tech Inspection from 1pm to 6pm. NORRA Mexican 1000 contingency will be flooded with incredible race vehicles spanning several eras of off road racing. Anyone who loves the history of off road racing will want to be a part of this historic event.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, McMillin Racing, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Horsepower Ranch, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
