We Need Your Input On Starting Order For The 2022 NORRA 500
And The 2023 Mexican 1000
Zoom Meeting To Discuss Having A Prologue Stage To Determine Starting Order

AGUA DULCE, CALIF. NORRA is considering having a prologue stage to determine starting order for the Yokohama NORRA 500 and Mexican 1000. Those who took advantage of “First In, First Out” during sign-ups will be able to stage first for the prologue. Your input is important to us, so we invite you to attend a zoom meeting on Thursday, July 14th at 6:00pm Pacific Daylight Time. Our goal is to allow for the fastest vehicles, regardless of class, to start towards the front for safety reasons. NORRA enjoys so much diversity in entrants, era or class does not always determine the potential top speed of every vehicle. It is dangerous to have faster cars starting in the back and having to pass numerous slower vehicles on course.

This will be beneficial to the faster vehicles and to those in limited cars as well. Those in more limited vehicles can concentrate on their own race instead of watching the mirrors or getting alerts on their Stella. The additional stage would require an extra day added to the NORRA 500, but the hours of technical inspection at the Mexican 1000 will be expanded to accommodate this change. The amount of days at the Mexican 1000 will remain the same. Please take this opportunity to make your voice heard at the zoom meeting. Click on this link to join the meeting:

###   Good Vibes. Good Times!   ###

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, McMillin Racing, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Horsepower Ranch, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
